Sherm Update – May 2016

Good morning and welcome to another fabulous day!

Trust all is going well with you and all progressing well in the safety wonderland J

Now is the time of year to be considering your planning for the next financial year.

So what improvements and initiatives are you going to undertake based on the performance of your business in the past 12 months?  Take a look at the risk exposures you have had, think of what could be done to better improve performance and compliance, what training do your staff need?  Have there been significant changes whereby you may still be a little behind in updating relating documentation?  This is where I will pull out the “Take 5” Card and up it to “Take a Day” and do your planning.

Poor Planning Produces Poor Performance – make sure you are not in that space!

Here is our update of improvements completed during May!

New Improvements

Manage User Roles
A big change here is now you can stop email and dashboard notifications.  The reason why this was done, is because a client wanted to set up their “employees” with a bogus email and we set up their passwords.  The client wants for users to log in Sherm to complete online training and competency assessments.  So, where this new features could be handy is when a stack of documentation is being reviewed and you want to prevent specific Users from getting emails.

Go to People > User Roles > Edit..  You will see a Notifications table, so when you uncheck “Dashboard Message” and “Email Notification”, they Stop!  Thanks Wayne, Lyndons!

Incident Management > Add Corrective Actions
The Assigned Investigator may now add corrective actions into Incident Management.  Previously only the “Reporting To” person and Admin could complete this task.

Reports > Incident
Filter fixed to extract only data selected when Print.  Thanks Tanya, UEA!

Rehabilitation Plan
Hours worked per day is now expressed with decimal in the Rehabilitation Plan. Thanks Wayne, Lyndons!

Manage Positions
When interacting in this module, if you have ‘inactive’ positions and you are updating the ‘active’ positions then set the filter for ‘active’.  This filter will remain active until cleared.  If you come across any others that don’t stay active, please let me know.  I’m working through Sherm to fix all such areas.

Workplace Inspections
Admins can add corrective actions as required post review of Completed Inspections.  Thanks Michelle, SFL!!

Inactive Training
When a training program has been made inactive, you cannot schedule it.  You will receive a popup alert advising you of such.  Thanks Helen, BTS Networks.

Licences and Certificates
Manage Employee > Licence and Certificates are now sort alphabetically by licence / certificate name.  The Print Report for Employee will also display alphabetically.  Thanks Justin, BTS Networks!

Report > Document Review and Approve
Status Filter fixed nd issues with date format bug resolved.

Manage Risk > Injury Management
New Incident Type – “Utility Incident”

This incident type would be when works have come into contact with general utilities found in and around work sites.  Thanks Tanya, UEA!

Please remember to communicate the relevant changes to your staff.

Mobile App
The team are close to completing the Mobile App!  I should be doing testing on the 20th June.

If there is anything that you need assistance with, please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Currently I am doing Sherm reviews for clients and developing plans to get them on track so they can utilise Sherm more effectively, identify compliance issues and more so areas for improvement. If you require the same for your site, then please let me know and we can schedule this work in for your business.

Enjoy the rest of your week!!
Kindest Regards
